Madame Gao is described as a very powerful woman who runs her own trade of heroin. "Daredevil" fans would recognize her because she is a character of the shows first season. But what is Madame Gao doing in "Iron Fist?"

Marvel's new series tells the story of Danny Rand (aka Iron Fist), a martial arts expert who has the ability to summon the power of the Iron Fist. He was presumed dead, but after 15 years, he returns to New York to reclaim his family company.

All his life, Danny had been told that there is a mythological dark force in the world, but he didn't really believe that that was real. It turns out that this dark force is very real indeed. Is it going to be Madame Gao?

Madam Gao is going to to be a prominent fixture in "Iron Fist" and many fans believe that there is so much more to her than meets the eye. According to ComicBook, there is a theory that she will double as the Crane Mother - ruler of K'un-Zi, the mystical city that went at odds with K'un-Lun, the home of the first Iron Fist.

When Danny assumed the title of being the Iron Fist, Crane Mother sent killers after him, and this threat led Danny to participate in the Tournament of Heavenly Cities.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Madame Gao once told Wilson Fisk that she is from somewhere "a considerable distance further" than China. Does this mean that she is really from the mystic city? Madame Gao will certainly be an interesting character in "Iron Fist," many Marvel fans agree.

Meanwhile, "Iron Fist" will be available on Netflix beginning March 17. The series stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, along with Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson.
