Nina Dobrev who left the show also assured her fans of her comeback on the finale. Elena and Damon need a closure. Furthermore, Plec revealed that there will be a death of a major character, and Kai will not have a good ending in "The Vampire Diaries" finale. The final scene will be in the Salvatore's home. More flashbacks and flash forwards can be expected on the last episode. Of course, the Delena tandem will have its big part on the ending.
