Casey Cott, who portrays Kevin Keller in CW's breakout series "Riverdale," opens up in playing as the first openly gay character in the Archie Comics Universe. He said that it is a complete joy to portray Kevin Keller in "Riverdale."

In an interview with TV Guide, Cott said that his character has a lot of joy and pride in playing Kevin. A smart, witty, and hysterical, Kevin is a loyal and wonderful friend to everyone that was a well-rounded and well-written character.

In an article written at the Daily Register, Cott added that it he is excited to see more LGBTQ characters in "Riverdale." But for now, Cott feels honored to portray him in the new series.

Cott is also the first person to portray Kevin in a live-action version of the character. For some people, this is Cott's breakout character.

Cott's character would not be the only LGBTQ character in the "Riverdale," Queerty has reported. Even if his experiment with one of his football playing classmates did not work out the way he wants, he found himself in a forbidden and star-crossed relationship with one of the members of Southside Serpents, the dangerous biker gangs.

The character of Kevin Keller was first introduced in the Archie comics last 2010. He is the first openly gay character to appear in the comics.

"Riverdale," a coming-of-age series set in the Archie universe, is known for its typical high school dramas. But if it is set in the Archie universe, audience already know that the characters would feel a different experience.

With the unique vibes and representation of LGBTQs, "Riverdale" is not just serving as a throwback. It is also breaking a lot of new ground for the audience.

It is not just in Riverdale that the representation of LGBTQ is present. In "Supergirl," Alex Danvers, which is played by Chyler Leigh, came out of the closet as a lesbian. This makes her the first series regular lesbian character in the CW DC universe.

There is also representation of the LGBTQ behind the camera. Executive producer Greg Berlanti is an out and proud member of the LGBTQ and he is producing four of the CW superhero shows. Riverdale airs Thursdays at on the CW.
