Fans who enjoyed the mid-season premiere of "The Walking Dead' last week have plenty of reasons to keep being happy with this week's episode. Last week Rick went from community to community pitching his idea of rising up against Negan and the Saviors, and received some mixed reactions from it. In the latest episode ("New Best Friends)" viewers are introduced to one of the most bizarre group of survivors in the show.

Rosita has been growing impatient and Tara immediately reminds her that they cannot expect everything to fall into place all at once because they still need to prepare. There is still plenty of visiting new communities as Rick tries to recruit more people to stand up against the Saviors. "New Best Friends" also throws around a few indications that Rick and his gang will do battle with the Saviors sooner rather than later.

Rick also gets thrown in to the middle of a makeshift pit/arena carved out of a garbage dump where has to fight against a walker covered in spikes. The spikey walker is part of a crucible that is designed by a new character named Jadis (Pollyanna Macintosh), who also happens to be the leader of a still unnamed group.

Jadis and her group have apparently been living in the junkyard for quite some time now and have avoided detection after the zombie apocalypse, which they refer to simply as "the change." They also have a simple policy that they follow: "we take, we don't bother." If you can recall in the midseason finale, Rick and Aaron plundered a houseboat in search of supplies completely unaware that they were being watched by Tamiel, an agent for Jadis' group.

Tamiel figured it was much easier to simply wait and snatch the supplies from a tired Rick and Aaron instead of going through the trouble of wading in walker-infested waters for them. This is exactly what Jadis' group did as they took the supplies from Father Gabriel.

Per Rolling Stone, "New Best Friends" doesn't do much to fill in the gaps of last week's midseason premiere, but it does provide some good moments. As for the next step in stopping Negan, the gang have no idea where to look for more weapons, but Rick points out that Tara knows where they should not be looking, per USA Today.
