"Outlander" Season 2 ended mid of last year and fans have been waiting when the new season would start airing. Turns out they would have to wait a little while longer because Season 3 won't premiere until September.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Starz made the announcement on Wednesday, and Starz President of Programming Carmi Zlotnik said: "While Droughtlander will last just a little longer, we feel it is important to allow the production the time and number of episodes needed to tell the story of the Voyager book in its entirety."

Zlotnik added that the scale of the book is immense and that they owe it to the fans to give the show's very best. "Returning in September will make that possible," Zlotnik added. Steve Kent, Senior EVP Programming at Sony Pictures Television said: "We're so proud of the incredible work that Ron and the Outlander team have done."

Variety said that this would make a gap of about 14 months between Seasons 2 and 3. Production for Season 3 began in September 2016 and will finish in June, and has now moved from Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa.

"Outlander" Season 3 will consist of 13 episodes and is based on Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" book series, "Voyager." The upcoming series will pick up right after Claire travels through the stones to go back to her 1948 life in order to reunite with her husband Frank. She left her 18th-century life and her true love, Jamie, but Claire soon realizes that there is a possibility of meeting Jaime again.

Claire and Jaime will find a way to reunite, but the question is, are they still the same people before they separated? When they realize that they aren't, how will they make the adjustment? "Outlander" Season 3 will feature a different scenery, and fans should expect to see amazing epic scenes.
