Many events have passed but Oscars 2017 is one of the most highly anticipated annual programs not only for actors but also for filmmakers. Predictions are starting to emerge before the 89th Academy Awards.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jimmy Kimmel will be the one to host the upcoming event. It has been reported that "La La Land" is the one leading the awards with 14 nominations. The last time this record emerged was in 1950 with "All About Eve" and in 1997 with "Titanic."

Meanwhile, a movie helmed by Barry Jenkins titled "Moonlight" and Denis Villeneuve's "Arrival" both obtained eight nominations. In the third spot are Kenneth Lonergan's "Manchester by the Sea," "Hacksaw Ridge" directed by Mel Gibson, and Garth Davis' "Lion." These three films obtained six nominations.

People cited several predictions for the upcoming Academy Awards. Read ahead to know who the potential winners are.

For the Best Picture, "La La Land" is possible winner. - A film with 14 nominations is already too good to be true. But there is no doubt that this love story has redefined what a movie musical really means for this generation. The latter source believes that only the phenomenal film "Hidden Figures" can match this kind of impact. Still, no one knows what lies ahead.

The Best Actor is possibly Casey Affleck ("Manchester By the Sea"). Many believed that he deserves to win. Though it was not fulfilled during SAG Awards, Affleck may have the chance at the Academy. His skills in the film were described as a meaty one. Affleck's role as a crippled man has always been timeless.

The Best Actress is Emma Stone ("La La Land"). She has been a consistent winner. Maybe Stone will conquer the awarding after all. That is because she did steal the spotlight during the Screen Guild Actors Awards and the Golden Globe Awards.

Stone cannot dance and sing. But with her eyes, she showed an effortless, yet excellent performance as "La La Land's" lead. However, people were disappointed that Amy Adams' performances on "Arrival" and "Nocturnal Animals" have been overlooked.

The Best Supporting Actor award will possibly go to Mahershala Ali ("Moonlight"). He lost against Aaron Taylor-Johnson ("Nocturnal Animals") at the Globes. Despite this, he has been dubbed as someone who is good at everything. Though named as an established 'newcomer', he is still expected to win the race.

Other predictions are Viola Davis ("Fences") for Best Supporting Actress. Along with that is Damien Chazelle ("La La Land") for Best director. Oscars 2017predictions are aplenty so to know the winners, watch on Sunday, February 26.
