Kevin Durant's homecoming to Oklahoma underwent a roller-coaster of emotions when he was tasked to defend against his old teammate Russell Westbrook. Chesapeake Energy Arena was filled with drama when the two superstars had a heated exchange during a timeout in the third quarter. It was the longest conversation that the two had exchanged since Durant's controversial divergence.

It is to be expected that Durant will have rejections all over the arena for this highly anticipated face-off between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunders. The fans are hyped, calling him traitor and weak and that he was useless during big games. Others even made effort making cupcake signs which is a label to the weak and soft persons in OKC.

Durant struggled first missing six of his first eight shots, however, he regained his usual confidence amidst the roaring crowd booing him. Durant claimed that it was nothing new to him and he's been called worse in his life. K.D. have already expected this much as this is his first games since he left the Thunders after eight long seasons only to go to their rival team.

Durant scored 34 points while being under heavy jeers from the audience all throughout the night leading to a 130-114 win. He also got nine rebound and tallied a 12 out of 21 shooting as reported by ABS-CBN Sports. However, the real climax of the game was during the third quarter with 94-76 in favor of the Warriors. With only 4:25 on the clock, a timeout was called when suddenly Westbrook shouted, "I'm coming!" Durant only shrugged his shoulder and answered "So what? You're losing!"

According to ESPN, Durant and Westbrook were great teammates but never best of friends. The difference in their perspective shows how they play. Durant wants teammates who can sacrifice for the greater good of the team but Westbrook has his own goals.

After the game, Draymond Green and Stephen Curry took turns wearing T-shirts with a smiling cupcake during their media sessions. Though others may interpret it as a sarcastic move, it can also be interpreted as a sign of solidarity for the teammate who has become a close friend in just half a year.
