Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently at their Phase Three with movie titles planned as far as 2019. "Captain Marvel" movie was first announced in October 2014 with an initial release date on July 6, 2018. However, the project underwent radio silence for a while and fans are becoming more and more agitated upon the progress of the movie. Luckily, screenwriter Nicole Perlman shed some light on the issue.

Perlman and Meg LeFauve was hired by Marvel back in April 2015 to write the script for the first ever Marvel female-oriented superhero film. The following year, Marvel announced that the actress, Brie Larson will play Carol Danvers during the July Comic-Con. However, the writers seemed that they are encountering difficulties on fitting Danvers' story the MCU's grand plot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Prelman share some insights on the latest episode of the Great Big Beautiful Podcast, stating how things are progressing. "Marvel is a little bit of a house of cards in a sense that everything influences everything around it even if it's very modular," stated Perlman. She also claimed that though they are hired a long time ago, they have just been given the green light recently which explains the delays in the project.

Back in 2014, Perlman's contribution to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" made her a valuable asset to the giant franchise. However, looking into the future of "Captain Marvel," she admitted that she is facing her greatest creative challenge yet as reported by We Got This Covered. Though pressured, she said that she is focusing on making Canrol Danvers' story to portray her being a woman as a part of her strength just as Marvel comics portrayed her, a feminist icon.

With the duo behind the screenplay, fans can rest assure that the project is in good hands. Besides, "Captain Marvel" is one of the leading female superhero of the franchise so Marvel is making sure that the film will do justice to her character. While we are waiting for more news on this matter, the film is set to open in theaters on March 8, 2019.
