The hit basketball anime "Kuroko's Basketball" will be back this coming March with a brand new movie titled "Kuroko's Basketball The Movie: Last Game". The film will be based from Tadatoshi Fujimaki's "Kuroko no Basuke Extra Game" sequel manga. The story will follow the events that happened a year after the Winter Cup arc of the original series.

Fujimaki will assume as the chief supervisor for the film and will be writing an original episode. The director of the three previous anime adaptations, Shunsuke Tada will be back to direct the film under Production I.G. The previous cast will also be returning to reprise their roles in the upcoming film.

GRANRODEO who previously performed the six opening theme songs for the franchise, will also return to sing the film's official theme song titled "Glorious Days". Another returning staffs includes Noburo Takagi to take charge of the composition and Yoko Kikuchi for the character designs. Yoshihiro Ike who scored soundtracks for the season 2 and 3 of the TV series will handle the film's music.

The story will be a sequel of the TV series where an American street basketball team called Jabberwock will visit Japan to have a friendly game with a college basketball team called Strky. The Japanese team was brutally crushed and the Americans bad mouthed Japanese basketball saying that Strky's basketball was the same as the level of monkeys. The comments reached Riko's father which forced him to make a dream team called Vorpal Swords and face the Americans for a revenge match.

According to Inquirer, the movie will also collaborate with NBA for releasing original franchise items and goods. Fujimaki selected 8 out of the 30 teams from the big league for the said partnership. Kikuchi will portray the Generation of Miracles plus Kuroko Tetsuya and Kagami Taiga wearing the uniforms from the selected teams.

The first character to have his NBA team was Kagami Taiga which was shown wearing the number 010 Chicago Bulls uniform. Shintaro Midorima followed on wearing the number 006 Boston Celtics while Kuroko joined San Antonio Spurs sporting the number 011 as reported by Anime News Network. Seijuro Akashi went to the Los Angeles Lakers with 004 number and Ryota Kise was portrayed wearing the Golden State Warrios number 007.

Other characters will be given their respective teams soon and will be posted on the official website of the movie. "Kuroko's Basketball The Movie: Last Game" will premiere in Japan on March 18, 2017.
