After a proposed trade to the Cavs failed to materialize, Carmelo Anthony might soon find himself headed to the Boston Celtics. The superstar forward is also reportedly willing to waive the no-trade clause in his contract to make the trade push through. If things go well, then fans might soon be seeing Anthony donning the green and white of the Celtics by the February 23 trade deadline.

The Knicks are apparently working on a deal that would send the 9-time All Star to Boston, despite the fact that the Celtics are not interested in acquiring Carmelo's services. A report by Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe has mentioned Boston as one of the potential destinations Carmelo Anthony is interested in should he waive his no-trade clause.

Anthony signed a five-year contract extension with New York back in 2014 worth $124 million, making him one of the highest paid players in the league. Anthony is set to make around $25 million this season and $55 million in the next two seasons. His 2018-2019 season will be a player option. Anthony is currently averaging 23.1 points and 6.3 rebounds for the New York Knicks who have been struggling greatly this season.

The Knicks acquired Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah from the Chicago Bulls in the hopes of strengthening their roster, but it has not worked out the way they had hoped. Anthony has had plenty of big games for New York this season, but the team as a whole has been underperforming.

With that said, Boston is not the only team that is interested in Melo as the Cavaliers are still open to the possibility of a trade involving the perennial All-Star, but only under one condition: Kevin Love must not be involved in the trade. As reported by ESPN, the Knicks had initially wanted to deal Anthony to Cleveland in exchange for All-Star forward, Kevin Love.
