AccessMap is giving popular direction apps such as Google and Apple Maps a run for its money with its latest pedestrian-friendly routes. Supposedly, the mapping app lets people customize their needs to look for any possible shortcomings they might encounter on the way such as hills, constructions, or barriers. Now, their mobility is heightened for a safer way on the road.

According to Tech Crunch, people with a disability or simply a pedestrian can now safely enjoy the road without the fear of road blocks. Through AccessMap's customizable route finding, anyone can get information thoroughly on where they will be going. Its development took more than a year to be finally realized so it can really ensure the exactness of information.

"Identifying routes that optimize not for time or distance but for things like changes in elevation and curb cuts is a really big and important change," AcessMaps Project Leader Anat Caspi said on the same report. Seemingly, they all take into account the other needs of people besides distance and accessibility.

For its release, New York, Washington, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland, Pittsburgh, Denver, Philadelphia, and Atlanta will be the first to get the new route finding update. Also, their developers are urging the people to help out add more possible road block they can include for more safety measures.

AccessMap's materialization started with the University of Washington students and professors. Altogether, they thought of something for everyone to use thus landing on the customizable pedestrian-friendly mapping. As what the other report says, its purpose is to bring the real-world condition to everybody. From the best routes to problematic ones they need to avoid.

In all, travelers or pedestrians looking for a better way to hit the road can use AccessMap's latest innovation. Be safe and enjoy either walking or driving to some amazing destinations. See on the video how to do these mapping apps work.
