Mew is one of the most rare legendary pokémon in the rest of the series. Catching it require tons of effort for some and having to repeat this increasingly lengthy process is just a pain. However, somebody found a way of finally transferring Mew from Gen 1 by using a glitch to "Pokémon Sun and Moon" through Poké Bank.

A lengthy and full-detailed guide on getting Mew transffered over to the latest "Pokémon" game for the 3DS had been posted by redditor TransgenderPride. The process is extemely complex, though carefully getting all steps correct awards any players from getting Mew from the first generation to the seventh.

The has been made possible by the recently compatibility update for the Poké Bank feature for the Nintendo 3DS. As Polygon states, it didn't take that long for players to figure out of a way to get the legendary pokémon to the latest game.

Mew is an extremely rare pokémon on just about any game in the series, but a number of players have, ever since, used a glitch in capturing the elusive thing. This is possible through the use of the Virtual Console versions of "Pokémon Red and Blue"

There are several steps to take in order to bring Mew in the latest game via the transfer service, but to summarize, players will be needing to use an arbitraty code execution to make it appear that Mew from the originating game was obtained through a legit method and not by using a glitch.

In the end, players should be getting a glitch item called 8F. Make no mistake though. Not a single step from the instructions can be bypassed and doing so will cause errors. Steps include using specific items under specific number of times. There are also encounters that needs to be engaged with, including Missingno, which is another glitch altogether.

For the full instructions, users can refer to the official post right here. There's also an optional "Shiny Mew," though it involves additional steps to successfully transfer it in that state for "Pokémon Sun and Moon."
