Samsung Rolled Out Android 7.0 Nougat Update For 'Galaxy S7', 'S7 Edge'

Samsung has started rolling out the official Android 7.0 Nougat update for "Galaxy S7" and "Galaxy S7 Edge" phones. This came after weeks of testing, and although the rollout started last week, Samsung has only just confirmed the update.

According to Independent, the update is not quite the latest version of of Android - Google's own Pixel handsets run version 7.1.1, but it sure brings a number of performance enhancements over Marshmallow. To see if your phone has the Android 7.0 Nougat update, just to go Settings > About device > download updates manually.

Many "Galaxy S7" and "Galaxy S7 Edge" users have already downloaded the new operating system, and many are happy with the new features, Express reported. Samsung revealed in a statement that they plan to expand the Android 7.0 Nougat update to older devices. "Samsung Galaxy S6", "Galaxy S6 Edge" and "S6 Edge+", "Galaxy Note 5", "Galaxy A3", and "Galaxy A8" update to Android 7.0 Nougat will start during the first half of this year.

The new Nougat update for "Samsung Galaxy S7" and "Galaxy S7 Edge" will bring about major User Experience changes, like the new Quick panel and notifications, multi-window, performance mode, and Samsung Pass. Similarly, the older devices will get these new features, too.

Android 7.0 Nougat will now make the Quick Panel on Samsung phones eligible to have cleaner aesthetics, and the company has removed the titles from the icons in the panel's first depth. Meanwhile, icons organized into groups of nine for making it easier to locate, will be featured on the second depth. Notifications will not be grouped to display information more clearly and also support Direct Reply.

What a lot of "Samsung Galaxy S7" and "Galaxy S7 Edge" users got excited about is the Multi Window feature, which allows split screen view. The new update will let users access up to seven apps at the same time. Four modes to choose from including Optimised mode to extend battery life and enhance speed to optimize the phone featured on the Performance Mode; while Game mode have functions like Game Launcher and Game Tools. To enhance the sound and image quality, go to Entertainment mode.
