Those who have been gaming on Windows 10 and have experienced some of the issues only present in the operating system will find some good news with Microsoft's "Game Mode" feature. This is a feature, which aims to improve the video game experience, but it is still a question on how well this will par with the actual Xbox One as it is frequently being compared with.

In a recent report from Try Modern, Head of Platform Engineering for Xbox, Mike Ybarra, have made an announcement regarding the official feature called "Game Mode" exclusively for Windows 10. The new update is supposed to significantly speed up games for both the legacy Win32 format games along with Universal Windows Platform or UWP most commonly found with Steam titles.

According to the official Xbox news page, the Game Mode will be optimizing Windows 10 PC and will be a big part of the next update. Microsoft is still waiting from its insiders to get their hands on the new feature for testing results.

However, PC Games N reports that the upcoming Game Mode feature isn't something to get excited about at the moment. The latest Preview build (15007) already has the Game Mode added in the options, but it was only available when the Game DVR feature is enabled, which equally slows down the gaming performance.

If things will stay as it is for the final version, the "Game Mode" feature may not be that much of a help as the Game DVR feature significantly cuts some serious framerate even on relatively modern machines. Worse could be said for PCs running on limited processing power, making the Xbox One like performance a long shot.

Instead, those looking for some real game performance boost can still prefer going the usual path called "Overclocking" as there are tons of tutorials on the internet on how to get this done with virtually every setup tiers. Otherwise, "Game Mode" could be a feature that will provide subtle results.
