Marvel's "The Defenders" is developed for Netflix based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name.  Recently, a magazine spread revealed the first images of the Defenders team.

The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Danny Rand / Iron Fist.  The main casts are all reprising their roles from their own individual series.  Supporting casts include the villain, "Alexandra," played by Sigourney Weaver, Comic Book reported.

The series will be filmed primarily in New York, CBS New York reported. Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer, said that "The Defenders" are classic New York characters - smart, resourceful and tough enough to always stand up for what's right, he said.

Daredevil is a disabled superhero who has been blind since he was a child. Despite this though, he can sense where people are, he can also sense movements, and even distant sounds.  It doesn't hurt that he is an expert in martial arts, giving him an advantage in fighting villains.

Meanwhile, Jessica Jones has superhuman strength. She had used this ability fight bad guys, but her encounter with mind controlling villain, The Purple Man, made her into his sexual slave and drove her away from being a superhero and into becoming a private detective.

Luke Cage on the other hand was one of the earliest African-American superheroes. He was created in the 70s, and he also has superhuman strength. Initially, he didn't know that his wife was killed by Jessica Jones when she was still controlled by The Purple Man. Her death defined him of who he is and gave Cage his pivotal moment.

The final Defender, Iron Fist, is yet to make his appearance.  His stand-alone series is scheduled in March, and only a few things are known about him for now.  We do know that he survived a plane crash as a child and was raised by monks.  Marvel's "The Defenders" is set to hit screens later this year.
