The first major update for PlayStation 4 since September of last year is coming soon. Sony confirmed that it's called 4.5 and will have some "improvements and new features."

It can be remembered that the previous update brought the ability to transfer data from one system to another in anticipation of the release of the PlayStation 4 Pro. New set of tweaks are set to be released soon. Sony is yet to provide specifics as to what those changes and attributes will be.

According to Game Spot, Sony is now inviting players to beta test the PS4 update before it goes live. To register, interested gamers can submit their PSN ID, and they have to be at least 18 years old. Make sure to attach a working email to the PSN ID, since that's how Sony will notify you if you get chosen.

The beta will start early next month, and once it starts, Sony will cut off new registrations, but no word yet as to when PS4 4.5 will be available for everyone.  Last year, 4.00 became available for beta testers in August, and was launched publicly a month after.

Once Sony provides the Playstation 4 system update, they will be installing the software on more consoles than before, having sold roughly 6.2 million consoles sold during the holidays in 2016.  The company has hit the benchmark of 53.4 million PS4 consoles sales worldwide, and so it's not impossible for Sony to reach 60 million sales this year.

Meanwhile, The Verge reported that a survey from the Game Developers Conference (GDC) show that game creators are not very excited about PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio.  The GDC's survey result shows that only 18 percent of developers view consoles like PS4 Pro and Scorpio as a positive thing for the industry.
