Peter Dinklage, the actor who plays Tyrion Lannister in the award winning HBO original series "Game of Thrones", is reportedly in talks for a key role in the upcoming superhero team-up movie "Avengers: Infinity War." There is currently no information yet regarding which character the actor will portray. Marvel Studios have yet to comment on the report as well.

The seventh season of "Game of Thrones" recently finished production. According to a report from Variety, Dinklage's schedule has allowed him to get on board with the "Avengers" film after the shooting schedule for "Game of Thrones" was moved from summer to fall. Filming for "Infinity War" is expected to take place sometime early in the summer.

Variety added that the plan is to shoot the two "Avengers" films back-to-back ("Infinity War" and a yet-to-be named sequel). The "Game of Thrones" star is expected to appear in both films, according to Variety's sources. Plot details for the upcoming superhero flick are pretty vague at the moment. The only thing we know about it so far is the superhero team will be back to face Marvel supervillain Thanos, voiced by Josh Brolin.

Dinklage is one of the few new stars to be added to the cast. Previous stars like Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. are confirmed to return and reprise their roles as Captain America and Iron Man, respectively. The next installment of the "Avengers" franchise will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who were also the ones that directed the last two "Captain America" films starring Chris Evans. The previous two "Avengers" flicks were directed by Josh Whedon.

IGN also reports that Gamora (Zoe Saldana), the female heroine from "Guardians of the Galaxy", has also been confirmed to make an appearance in "Infinity War". "Spiderman" actor Tom Holland also teased the possibility of the web-swinging superhero making an appearance in the film. "Avengers: Infinity War" is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018.
