Try pronouncing Friggatriskaidekaphobia. In case you want to know, it's the fear of Friday the 13th.

Thirteen is just a number but many people are scared of it due to heightened media popularization. This unlucky number that falls on a Friday will have tourists wobble to their knees in fright and avoid traveling if possible.

However, major airlines have seen it as an opportunity to lower seat sales to win brave individuals to take the skies. Those who ignore the superstition have indeed found Friday the 13th as their chance to travel inexpensively.

Airfare falls 40 to 50 percent than its original price this Friday the 13th of January. According to Kayak Co UK, air travel to Gran Canaria was cut from £63 to £36 in this significant drop of 44 percent.

Flights to Dubai are 28 percent cheaper with an average saving of £74, while Madrid drops to £46 from the usual £53 airfare. The island of Tenerife has dropped £14 from £89 to £73. New York has a slight drop of £21 from £322 to £301.

As told by Mirror UK, Suzanne Perry, travel expert at KAYAK said, "We love using our data at Kayak to offer great advice to our users." Moreover, she stated that "We have analyzed flight searches for January and can reveal prices fall significantly for many destinations on Friday 13."

Perry explained that flight prices vary on the law of demand and supplies and to those who are not superstitious would likely jump in and take the ride. Other people who want to change their mind and go on a vacay can still grab seat deals for that last minute trip.

"We can, therefore, take from our data that many people are choosing not to travel on Friday 13 because prices are down for a good selection of Brits' most popular destinations," Perry said.

The next major Friday seat sale will be on October 13.
