"Star Wars: Rebels" trailer teases a rematch between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul. The mid-season trailer teases the encounter between the two that the series has been building up to.

The animated series takes place after the events of "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope". The "Star Wars" prequels tell the story of how the Empire betrayed all the Jedi and took the power of the Republic.

The series would return with a two-part special on Disney XD and the trailer reveals Jedi Ezra Bridger hearing a message sent by Kenobi. The message was sent as a warning for all the surviving Jedi about how the Sith has betrayed them.

Entertainment Weekly adds that the young Kenobi in the Jedi holocron is voiced by James Arnold Taylor. The older version of the Jedi is voiced by Stephen Stanton, who also does the voice for Grand Moff Tarkin.

The latest episode of the series shows that Jedi Bridger and his tutor Kanan discovers that Kenobi is the key to confronting the Sith. However, Maul is also in the search for the legendary Jedi.

The "Star Wars" prequels already showed us that Maul died in the hands of Kenobi in "Phantom Menace". In "Star Wars: Rebels", witches revived him and restored his power.

Maul appeared in the finale of Season 2 of the show, and he spends half of Season 3 looking for Kenobi. Digital Spy mentions that all throughout the series, the build-up to their confrontation would ultimately lead to a rematch.

The trailer then ended with Kenobi on Tatooine facing a campfire. "You're in the wrong place," was all he said right before Maul drew his lightsaber in the trailer.

Fans have been praising the series for its serious take on the plot despite being a Disney animation targeted for kids. "Star Wars: Rebels" Season 3 will resume this January 7 with an interesting string of events.
