The year 2017 is going to be a big year for smartphone fans.  Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8, and Apple's iPhone 8 are all expected to be released next year.  Nokia is releasing a smartphone, and HTC will also release a new model with amazing specs.  Then, there's Microsoft's Surface Phone.

According to Forbes, Microsoft will launch the Surface Phone at some point next year, but some reports say it will probably be in spring. Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, said that Microsoft will make the "ultimate mobile device". The performance of Window's 10 on mobile devices will be upgraded in the second quarter of next year through the third Windows 10 feature update named Redstone 3, and this could be the main feature of the Surface Phone.

The phone is also said to have a huge display. Leaked reports say that the phone will come in a 6-inch screen profile. Microsoft Windows chief Terry Myerson reportedly said that the Windows 10 support of ARM-based chips will specifically apply in various mobile screen sizes only like 6-inches, 10-inches and 14-inches.

But according to LearnBonds, the Surface phone will lack the popular third-party iOS and Android apps, however, it will surely make up for the functions through a built-in PIM suite. Some rumors say that the phone will come in three variants - a consumer model, a business model, and an "enthusiast" model, a high-spec version for tech geeks.  No confirmation about this has been made at the moment.

Many believe that Microsoft's Surface Phone would have a 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM option and a 128GB internal storage and 6GB RAM option. It could also possibly include an Intel Kaby Lake chipset, 20MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss lens and Surface Pen. This means that this handset will definitely be able to rival Samsung's Galaxy S8, Note 8 and Apple's iPhone 8.
