English pop star George Michael dies, at the age of 53, in his home on the afternoon of Christmas day. Fans have reported seeing the South Central Ambulance Service outside his home in Oxfordshire on Christmas afternoon. Hours later, his publicist has finally released a statement confirming the death of the famous English pop star.

Michael's publicist has released a statement, as reported from BBC, saying that the star has passed away peacefully at his home and his family "asks that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time." His publicist and family has not stated any reason yet behind his demise and authorities are still on the search for reasons behind his unexplained, sudden death.

A report from the Daily Mail UK has explained that this is not the first time the star has come close with death as he has been reported to have battled drug addiction and suffered from pneumonia in 2011. At the time, he has been sent unconscious to Vienna hospital where doctors had to perform a tracheotomy to make sure he was still breathing.

The 53-year-old actor has expressed in his interviews that he was frightened by the event and even said that his life was pretty much "touch-and-go" after that. He has since been more active with this career at this point.

George Michael's career was historic. He has been shot to fame through Wham! in the late 1980s with popular songs such as "Club Tropicana" and "Last Christmas." Later on he would be even more successful with a solo career with his most popular song "Careless Whisper."

He has been in numerous events and concerts after his near death experience in 2011. Also it has been reported that he had ongoing filming for a documentary about his life and career with Wham! which was set to be released by 2017.
