HBO seems to have nodded for a spinoff on the biggest TV show. HBO Chief Executive Richard Plepner has confirmed that the company will be producing a Game Of Thrones spin-off series.

In an article by The Independent, Plepner said, "There might be some brand extension that would be exciting. It certainly has not escaped the producers." He added that the company is focused on finishing the series with the "kind of energy and excitement that everyone has come to expect."

"We're going to do that while at the same time parallel processing very embryonic stages of other possibilities," he continued. Season 7 will roll next year with the show's final series to be aired in 2018. Either they'll have the spinoff before or after Season 8, fans can only speculate.

Given that the show is among the biggest hits of the century, a spinoff would be likely. It gives hope to fans. George R.R. Martin's world is so vast that either the producers will have to create a story out of the existing characters or make a new one.

Reported by EW, HBO programming president Casey Bloys said they are still talking to author George R.R. Martin about stories for a follow-up to the Emmy Award-winning TV series, highly celebrated worldwide.

"I would say it's still kind of preliminary ongoing talks," he said in an interview when asked if HBO has ideas on creating a show on Martin's that happened thousands of years ago before settling to this timeline. "There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn't point to any one and say, 'This is what we're going to do.'

If they were pointing that one out, would we have a sequel? And if Martin got inspired, would he be finishing The Winds of Winter and be motivated to write another one? As stated earlier, everyone can only speculate.
