Meghan Markle, the 35-year-old actress and Prince Harry's girlfriend has written a powerful essay about being trolled on the social media. Markle, whose mother is African American and father is Caucasian opened up about how she was being trolled online over her role in US legal drama "Suits" as Rachel Zane.

In the essay published by Elle Magazine before Markle started dating Prince Harry, she wrote about how racists attack her mother, calling her "the 'N' word" and, when she was a baby, being asked where her mother was since they assumed her mother was the nanny.

Meghan wrote about trolling over the show stating that she remembered the tweets when that first episode of her role's family aired. Others say: 'Why would they make her father black? She is not black' to 'Ew, she's black?' and 'I used to think she's hot.' The latter was reported and blocked, Mirror reported.

For all the wave of abuse and harassment she has received, Harry has hit out saying that the reaction of the people was unexpected, yet speaks of the undercurrent of racism, which is so prevalent within America. Not long after Prince Harry's relationship with the "Suits" actress was revealed six weeks ago, Harry released a statement saying that she's on the receiving end of bunch of wave of harassment and abuse including outright racism and sexism of web article comments and social media trolls.

According to the statement, Prince Harry is worried about Meghan's safety and is disappointed that he's not able to give her protection. "It's not right that a few months into having a relationship with Prince Harry that Meghan should be subjected to such a storm," the statement added. According to Daily Mail, Meghan says in her essay that in order to show she's above online bullies and trolls; she came up with the decision to find her own identity.
