Rihanna's debut sneaker design "Fenty x Puma" has been named "Shoe of the Year" by Footwear News. Last year the winner was Kanye West's Adidas "Yeezy Boost 350" sneaker and the year before the prize went to the Adidas "Stan Smith" sneaker. In the history of the coveted shoe award, Rihanna was the first woman to win that prize, which is a major win to think that the sneaker culture is male-dominated according to the Harper's Bazaar article. On Instagram the singer-turned-designer rejoiced with the good news and she posted"

"To God be the Glory!!! What a blessing to be honored with this prestigious award, and to be the first woman receiving "SHOE OF THE YEAR" at #FNAA!! Never could I have imagined the amount of support and love we got from around the world for #THECREEPER !!! Thank you to everyone who represented and made the movement!!! One Love." According to the W Magazine article, the "Work" singer told FN that she never imagined herself winning the "Shoe of the Year" award in her wildest dreams. "It means so much to me to make a mark like this in the shoe and sneaker industry and to have so many people share my love for the Creeper," she told FN.

The creeper brought an unexpected punk flair to the sneaker world. It was a major success after the first release of the shoe sold out in just three hours. The popularity of the shoe was spread rapidly in the fashion world through Instagram feeds as the likes of supermodels Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne were sporting a pair. The creeper was the only choice to win the annual award according to FN as reported by Bazaar. Footwear News based their decision on "retail sales, consumer feedback, social media prowess and overall buzz," mentioned it the W Magazine article.

In February at New York Fashion Week, the star presented her debut Fenty x Puma collection. The second range was followed up during Paris Fashion Week in September. On November 29, Rihanna will accept her accolade at the Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York according to Bazaar. Below is an excerpt video of Rihanna's Fenty x Puma at the Paris Fashion Week
