Due to terrorism attacks in Paris last 2015 and the incident last summer in Nice, there was a decrease in the tourist visit and tourism of Paris. There was an estimate of about eight percent drop on the tourist visits early this year compared to last year. As said by Pierre Schapira , the president of Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, to The Travel Market Report, "Paris was extremely shaken following the events in January and November 2015... and really, the consequence of this, of course, is it impacted tourism".

The city's tourism officials vowed that everything will be back to normal soon. It was said that there would be new and re-openings of hotels and lots of events to be hosted by Paris. Le Figaro also reported of a plan to attract tourists back with a €42 million budget by the government. The €15 million of the budget will be allotted for additional security. Some of the planned additional security measures to be implemented are more CCTV cameras on the delicate areas of the city and the establishment of "mobile police stations" on places usually visited by tourists, according to The Local France,

France is aiming to reach 100 million tourists by 2020 through planning lots of events. According to Didier Chenet, a president of an independent tourism group, the "state of emergency" which the country is in should be removed because it scares people away; rather, additional security should be implemented.
