Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas will host 40 bands and 2,000 of their fans on a five-day cruise that begins in January. Promoters are calling this the world’s biggest heavy metal festival that floats.

For its third year, the "7,000 Tons of Metal" cruise will include bands like Subway to Sally, Nacrusis, Lacuna Coil, Die Apokalyptischen, Reiter, Nile, Doro Helstar, In Flames, Immolation, and Sabaton. In addition to the live shows, the website says that the event will include metal karaoke, open mic nights, bars with no closing time, and clinics. Given the atmosphere, the website says that it’s almost as if “everyone has a backstage pass.”

To help ensure maximum headbanging potential, the crew will remove seats from the main theater. The organizers don’t think that anyone will be sitting down, anyway. Aside from the main theater, cruise-goers can enjoy performances at venues like the outdoor poolside stage and a smaller lounge.

The cruise leaves on January 28 – which the countdown on the site shows to be exactly 207 days away -- and ends on February 1. The ship spends two days at sea, and visits a Caribbean island that has yet to be specified. Fares start at $965, including fees and taxes, and the third round of tickets go on sale at noon, Eastern Standard Time, on July 10. Those who have been before – called Two Time Survivors and One Time Survivors, respectively – are able to buy their tickets early and at a discount.
