Now that manatees are about to be out from the endangered species list, it might be a good idea to come see these adorable creatures that inspired the stories of lovely mermaids.

Manatees are usually found in most bodies of water all across Florida. It is only in winter when the water turns cold that manatees migrate to find warm lakes, springs and even basins of power plants.

Seeing the sea cows crowd together may be a wonderful spectacle, but it's always advisable not to touch them.

The following are places in Florida where the wonderful manatees can be found:

Blue Spring State Park in Orange City is the place to see the manatees without riding a boat. The park has the biggest spring on the St. John's River. It is called 'Manatee Refuge' and during manatee season, people are not allowed to get close to the creatures but visitors can view the animals from a distance.

TECO Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach is a testament of man's dedication to preserving the environment. Manatees seek refuge in the warm waters discharged from the Big Bend Power Station. The place features educational facilities, walkways and platforms where the sea cows can be observed and admired.

Three Sisters Springs in Crystal River is where large groups of manatees can be seen, especially in the winter. Guests can either go on a boat tour or kayak the waters to get a chance to see the animals. It's assuring for manatees to consider this place as a haven since Three Sisters Springs is considered 'An Environmental Jewel' by many.

Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge in Titusville started out as the place where the Space Program was being developed. The area was later changed into a National Wildlife Refuge and National Seashore. Manatees as well as other animals can be viewed from the location's observation area.
