Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are reportedly dating. It would seem that the on-screen chemistry of this duo from "Outlander" has developed in real life, if the rumors are true. The rumors started to circulate all over the Internet when their on-screen romance fueled already existing stories that they are really seeing each other off-screen.

Both of them have claimed on several occasions in public that they were actually both single. However, there were some hints that they were more than just co-stars. In fact, according to some online reports, there were even hints that they were more than just friends, as they tend to get far too cozy with one another during their appearances in public.

Moreover, their steamy love scenes in the TV series do not help much in squashing the rumors. In fact, the fire of their nerve-racking on-screen romance has even served as fuel to the fire.

Independent quoted Balfe's previous statement to Weekend Magazine. Balfe said, "A single lady right now and terribly depressed by it. Joke. Had I been in a relationship, it would've been difficult to leave someone in LA. But, I don't worry about it too much. Leave that up to my mother."

It has been reported that Balfe used to go out with Radio4 guitarist Dave Milone. In fact, according to multiple online reports, the two of them dated for quite a long time. Sadly, however, they decided to break up for an unknown reason. Since then, she has maintained a single status, or so she says.

Although it may be true that the actual status of the relationship between Sam Heughan and Balfe have not been confirmed yet, he did mention in an interview that he was among the people who chose Balfe for "Outlander." According to him, the makers of the show held an audition for the role of Claire, and he chose Balfe.

Sam Heughan said, "We just knew straightaway that she was the right one. We just started chatting in the test before we started the audition. And we just seemed to get on. Her humor is fantastic. She's great fun to work with. She's very hardworking, a wonderful actress, very natural. It's been really fun to see where the relationship goes between us."
