The suspect who allegedly admitted to the crime has been identified as 45-year-old Nicolas Etienne Holzer.

According to the Associated Press, after the 4 dead Goleta home stabbing incident, the killer himself calmly called 911 and asked the police to go to the home in California's Central Coast.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office said in a news release, after the 4 dead Goleta home killings, Holzer called 911 and in a 'calm and matter of fact manner told a dispatcher that he had killed his family.'

Authorities said on Tuesday that Holzer told detectives the 4 dead Goleta home killings were his destiny.

KTLA reports that the discovery of the bodies of the 4 dead Goleta home were made by deputies just after 11 p.m. after they responded to a call from a home in the 600 block of Walnut Park Lane, located in the east of Goleta.

The release said that when deputies arrived at the home, Holzer immediately met them at the front door they were met with the grisly scene of the 4 dead Goleta home.

Holzer was arrested and taken into custody without incident in the coastal city of Goleta, at the home that he shared with his parents and sons, ages 10 and 13, said Santa Barbara County sheriff's spokeswoman Kelly Hoover.

According to USA Today, all the victims from the 4 dead Goleta home killing died from multiple stab wounds that police found Monday. By early Tuesday, deputies were still investigating the crime scene.

The AP reports that two kitchen knives had been recovered, and they were believed to have been used in the 4 dead Goleta home killings.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said, 'This is another huge tragedy for our community.'

Brown was reportedly referencing a previous killing in May by a gun-wielding man who killed six people and wounded 13 others near the UCSB campus.

According to Brown, Holzer was not found with any prior criminal history. There were also no reports of police being summoned to the home while Holzer lived there with his family. Brown also mentioned that Holzer had full custody of the boys following a divorce years earlier.

Though it would be normal to assume that a man responsible for the 4 dead Goleta home killings is a mentally unstable man, Brown said it still remains unclear whether Holzer had actual mental health issues. He said that this angle would be looked at as part of the investigation.

The victims in the 4 dead Goleta home killings had been identified as Holzer's 73-year-old father, William Holzer, 74-year-old mother, Sheila Holzer and sons, 13-year-old Sebastian Holzer and 10-year-old Vincent Holzer.

The sheriff said the 4 dead Goleta home killings began with Holzer first killing his father. He then went to a bedroom shared by his two sons, then he went for his mother and afterwards the family dog.

The sheriff said he 'called 911 and in a calm and matter of fact manner told a dispatcher that he had killed his family.'

Police reportedly found the body of Holzer's father in the home's den and his mother's body in a hallway near the children's bedroom when they arrived. Brown said Holzer told detectives he performed the 4 dead Goleta home killings to fulfill what he believed was his destiny. He didn't elaborate further on this explanation.

According to police, Holzer is currently held without bail at the Santa Barbara County Jail on four counts of murder. An animal cruelty charge was also pending, reports KTLA.

The AP said there is still no information on a pending court appearance or whether Holzer already has an attorney available.
