Wine is a very different form of alcohol. It is not something you would pick at a club and not so much at a bar either. But, for romantic dinners, brunch, or even just a relaxing night at home with the hubby, wine seems to be the perfect fit.

How are you supposed to know which bottle of wine is your signature drink? To find out, you have to try a few, of course. Fortunately there is a way to do so without having to buy a bunch of bottles and risk on the side of error.

Wine is a type of drink that is not for everyone. They come in a variety of tastes and are labeled in too many categories. (We do not need all the confusion!) From wine that taste good with red meat to wine that taste better with fish, there are also wines that go well eating chocolate!

According to the Wine Institute, there are about 3,800 wineries in California (Since 2012). These numbers include bonded winery destinations and every licensed production facility of single firms or individuals, and licensed warehouses.

With so many wineries to visit, it is always a good idea to know where to start. So, here are three wineries that might peak your interest.

Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards - Buellton, California

With such a beautiful view, The Alma Rosa Winery should be one of the first vineyards to visit. There is a fountain out back where an outdoor tasting bar is available on weekends.

Along with access to the tasting room, this winery offers a backyard feel with clear visuals of surrounding vineyards located in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Melville Winery & Vineyards - Lompoc, California

Melville's tasting room is on the ground floor of the villa and is about 12 miles from Santa Barbara. This area also falls within the larger Santa Ynez Valley and is complete with French doors that lead out onto a beautiful patio.

This Mediterranean-style villa in the Santa Rita Hills also offers a picnic area to enjoy lunch and a glass estate-grown Pinot Noir. Specializing in Clones of Pinot Noir grapes, Melville proves itself as one of the best.

Stryker Sonoma - Alexander Valley, California

When visiting the Sonoma, expect to experience one of the best views in Alexander Valley. When looking out from the glass-walled tasting room, you are also given samples of Bordeaux varietals, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay. (Yum!)

As most wines are grown primarily on the property, there are some that are sourced from vineyards in Rockpile appellation.

If you are ever looking for a perfect afternoon, visit Stryker Sonoma right before sunset. With a beautiful backdrop and the gorgeous atmosphere, nothing else can say PERFECT!
