Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies as her 1st floor filled with rubbish collapsed on her. According to police, Mitchell was a 66-year-old woman and an apparent hoarder. Authorities said that Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies before she was found under a load of debris which happened to have killed her. The debris was reportedly piled on the first floor of Mitchell's house. Apparently, the weight of all the clutter was too much that the first floor eventually collapsed atop the basement and Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies.

The Associated Press reports that two days before Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies, a postal carrier called police and told them that her mail had already been piling up for no less than a week. As such, the carrier reportedly requested a welfare check on the old woman. Officers responded to the carrier's call on Thursday and went to the house. However, they did not think that Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies as they did not find anyone in the house. Police just thought that Mitchell wasn't home, said Police Sgt. Kevin O'Donnell of Cheshire, Connecticut. It wasn't until Thursday when police went to check on her inside the house that they realized the extent of debris in the home.

According to ABC News, Mitchell's body was found in her Connecticut home on Saturday. O'Donnell said that as the police checked the house, they found the first-floor with piles of clutter as high as the ceilings and along the walls. Some are even piles waist-high in other areas. O'Donnell added that it wasn't until Friday that officials realized that the floor had collapsed.

Before entering the building and finding out Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies, officials first made sure that the building was safe to enter. Officials reportedly cut a hole in the side of the house and to remove debris as they entered, officials used a backhoe.

O'Donnell said of the incident - Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies, "It appears, at least, that the floor gave way. All the items that she had collected for many years covered her as the floor sank down into the basement. It's just junk. She just never threw anything away. Mail, packages, bottles lots of papers, newspapers, magazines, you name it. Piled to the ceiling in most rooms. There was a waist-high layer in the room she had been living in."

According to O'Donnell, over the years before Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies, police were already familiar with the old woman as they had been there many times. As Mitchell led lived alone and experienced little to no contact with other people, police have reportedly been responding to calls from neighbors and other people requesting for welfare checks. Other times officers even offered her help from local social service experts. However, Mitchell refused every time.

O'Donnell said on Sunday, "It's unfortunate because ... we've tried all along to get her assistance, but she was a very private and solitary lady."

Beverly Mitchell hoarder dies and as of the moment, police are still trying to find relatives of Mitchell.
