Rodong Sinmun, a state-run newspaper, has reported that North Korea's autocrat was giving "field guidance" to the country's hydro-meteorological service. Apparently, Kim Jong Un was seething because of consecutive erroneous weather forecasts.

According to the news report, Kim Jong Un was far too disappointed for the high number of incorrect forecasts that seemed to have been derived through prediction instead of through modern and scientific analysis. The North Korean dictator said, "It is necessary to fundamentally improve the work of the Hydro-Meteorological Service in order to scientifically clarify meteorological and climatic conditions and provide accurate data for weather forecast and meteorological and climatic information required by various fields of national economy in good time."

Although it is a bit hard to imagine Kim Jong Un spewing this off to his countrymen, it is highly unlikely that Rodong Sinmun is inaccurate in the report since Kim's attendants are known for hanging on his every word, no matter what he says. In addition to this, Kim is also recognized for his penchant to call on certain unremarkable installations in the nation he is leading.

Normally, regardless of what Kim is saying, his audience always ends up clapping and cheering. However, in the series of pictures that Rodong Sinmun attached to the news report, the strain on the faces of his country's "weathermen" is evident.

It was only last month that North Korea went through a horrendous spring drought, considered as the worst in thirty years. According to the media, this drought damaged thousands of acres of crops. Despite having a normally low harvest of grain this time of year, they are also presently facing chronic food shortages. Additionally, the basic stables that are distributed as part of the rations are starting to get depleted.

Critics of Kim's reign have stated that it seems Kim, being well-fed and extravagantly sheltered, turns his country's weather people into unfortunate scapegoats.
