Game of Thrones is cancelled? At least that's what the Internet is saying. However Season 5 of the popular HBO show hasn't been cancelled. The rumor of Game of Thrones being cancelled is just a cruel Internet hoax. Game of Thrones Season 5 will go on.

Rumors started spreading that Game of Thrones Season 5 will be cancelled. A Facebook and Twitter post that was being shared had a photo of Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage and said "HBO has decided due to other new creative projects taking up most of their time and resources, the hit series..." However when people click the link, they come across a FakeShare link that says "You Got Owned!"

In a more serious prank, or rather a scam, some also came across a googonline link that tries to tell users that their JavaScript plug-in is out of date and they need to download a new one. The page provides a download link for Java Version 7 Update 5, which is not the most updated version. The download is likely a scam or can install a virus on your computer, so don't download it.

Game of Thrones Season 5 isn't cancelled. Season 4 isn't even over yet as there it is just an episode away from the finale. Season 5 and even Season 6 have already been renewed since the series is such a huge success for the cable network.

There was also a similar hoax lately that said Game of Thrones Star Peter Dinklage died. This was also a hoax.

Some who came across the false story were not sure that it was fake or they tried to keep the prank going, so they sent out tweets, discussing the news. Some examples of those tweets include:

"I still can't believe #GameOfThrones season 5 is cancelled."
"Is game of thrones really cancelled please tell me this isn't true !"
"My heart skipped a beat when I saw game of thrones was being cancelled"
