Vicente Fernández is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the Mexican singer and actor didn't die. He's just the latest victim of an Internet death hoax. Fernández is just fine.

Rumors started swirling that Fernández died in a car crash in Mexico. Messages were being spread on social media after some received an email about the entertainer's death. However the same email was going around back in April and Fernández's son warned fans on Twitter that the email contained a virus and users should avoid opening it, according to the LA Times.

Fernandez has had some health complications lately but he isn't dead. One of the best mariachi music performers, Fernández announced in early 2012 that he would retire after completing a farewell tour. He said he wanted to be able to spend more time with his family. However health problems got in the way of his tour.

Fernández, known for hits such as "Mujeres Divinas" and "El rey," was forced to cancel his concerts in the United States and Mexico in October 2012 after doctors discovered a lump in his liver that was cancerous.  The farewell tour was only supposed to last for a year but it has been delayed several times due to his health complications. He was able to go to certain places in the United States, Spain, Central America and South America.

However now that he's doing better and has had some time to relax, the 74-year-old singer announced that he is ready to get back on tour. He is set to perform at Mexico City's National Auditorium on Sept. 10, Sept. 12 and Sept. 13. There are no other dates currently scheduled.

"I have been enjoying my home, my family, and I have been working on my albums. And now that I feel very good in terms of my health, I want to say goodbye in cities where I did not have the opportunity to go on my farewell tour," the singer said in a statement according to Fox News.

So don't worry fans, Fernández is alive and well.
