Colorado mudslide Mesa County took three people with it on Sunday night in western Colorado, said the Mesa County Sheriff's Department. The massive Colorado mudslide Mesa County  was estimated to be 2 miles wide, 4 miles long and 250 feet deep in some places. It is located about 11 miles southeast of the town of Collbran, a community of about 700 people in western Colorado.

According to CNN, the three went missing on Sunday morning when a small slide impacted irrigation water for local ranchers and farmers caused them to investigate what had happened. That's when the massive Colorado mudslide Mesa County, a second and major mudslide occurred, said authorities.

Mesa County Sheriff Stan Hilkey told reporters, "Everybody on this mountain is praying for a miracle right now. We hope that they may be stranded somewhere, or in such a way that they avoided it. But right now, they have not been heard from."

According to The Denver Post, because of the immense size of the Colorado mudslide Mesa County, authorities were called at around 6:15 p.m. to check out the scene. Lt. Phil Stratton of the Mesa County Sheriff's Office said in a statement, "This slide is unbelievably big." A person reported seeing the slide on Salt Creek Road, near Vega Reservoir, on the Grand Mesa, and he described "hearing a noise that sounded much like a freight train that is attributed to the slide," according to the sheriff's department statement.

The sheriff said, "The slide came down with so much force and velocity that it came to a hill and went up and over a hill and then came back down -- a significant hill. So the power behind it was remarkable."

The Huffington Post reports that the Colorado mudslide Mesa County was most likely caused by heavy rains that have fallen on Mesa County for most of the day. According to a report by 9News, rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene to search for three residents who were reported missing in the slide area.

Outside the mudslide's perimeter, road blocks have also reportedly been set up. Since the area is extremely remote, no structures were damaged, the sheriff's department stated. According to deputies on the scene, the area was very unstable and still remains so. Now, authorities are concerned about the possibility of yet another slide after this massive Colorado mudslide Mesa County.

Hilkey said, that roadblocks have been set up to keep people away. "We have to be comfortable ... before we're going to put and allow search-and-rescue resources on there because we certainly don't want to create any more of a tragedy than this already is," he stated.

Colorado mudslide Mesa County caused the disappearance of three people and authorities are still searching. CNN reports that on Monday, rescue workers are searching by air and on land Monday for the missing three.
