(Video) Officer Shoots Service Dog Dead At Young Boy's Birthday Party

Feb 11, 2014 11:45 AM EST

A dog-owner is alleging a trigger-happy officer shot his dog on Saturday outside his home, however, the police say that the dog was aggressive and had to be euthanized.

Rick Clubb says his 9-year-old son's birthday party was ending around 5:30pm, when officer Tarek Hassani came to his home on a report his dgo was running wild. He then shot the 7-year-old black labrador, known as 'Hooch', though Clubb said it showed no aggressive behavior.

Clubb said he suffers from Parkinson's disease and Hooch was his trained service dog.

"He pulled out his .45 and just shot my dog. It was right outside my son's bedroom, what if it had ricocheted through the window?"

A recording from the dashboard-mounted camera shows Hassani yelling and kicking at the barking dogs as he made his way to the front door. A chihuahua and two large dogs were running loose when Hassani arrived, said Filer Police Chief Tim Reeves. "We had to kick one to keep him away."

Clubb was ticketed for allowing his animal to run loose, but says he will fight the charge.

"Well, my dog is dead." Clubb said. "I don't think that's fair."
