(Video) Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Declares February 6th 'Bob Marley Day' In Toronto: Grooves On Camera

Toronto Mayor Robert Ford has officially proclaimed the 6th of February, 2014 (today!) as "Bob Marley Day" in Toronto. Today is also Marley's birthday.
The Jamaican singer, who was born in 1945, died in 1981 at age 36. He would have been 69 today.

The official text reads: Whereas each year on February 6, we honour the legacy of Robert (Bob) Nesta Marley, an influential musician, advocate for human rights and international ambassador of peace.

Marley's early career began with his friend and band, the Wailers, who were collectively known as "Bob Marley and The Wailers". His music left a legacy for people of all cultures and crossed cultural barriers with his reggae music.

Bob Marley was a great ambassador of peace; he used his music to fight apartheid and promote unity, both in his home and around the world. His music is still extremely popular today and he remains an iconic figure in both music and pop culture

The Mayor is a huge fan of Bob Marley and was recently caught on camera getting down to Marley's 'One Love' at a council meeting.

Mayor Rob Ford is still a popular figure, despite being caught allegedly smoking crack on video and alleged drunken outbursts.
