Spending Your Next Vacation In This Scenic Cabin In Alaska Can Be Totaly Free And Here's How To Do It

Apr 08, 2017 04:55 AM EDT

Free travel offers usually have a catch to it, but it's totally different for the members of the Mountaineering Club of Alaska who can spend a nice vacation in seven huts up in the beautiful Alaskan mountain ranges. There's no catch, and it's totally free where members can visit them anytime they want.

For those people interested in being a part of this club, you'd have to pay annual membership fees that cost $20 for an individual and $25 for families. According to Travel & Leisure, the huts are located in different areas and altitudes of the Talkeetna and Chugach mountain ranges, and they serve as rest stops for people who are hiking up these mountains.

There are no reservation fees so when you see that a hut is empty, it's yours. The huts have insulation, double walls and metal roofs so they're perfectly safe if ever snow storms come your way.

But among the seven huts, there's definitely one that would catch your eye and that's the red Mint Hut. The hut is half a mile away from the Mint Glacier and is located at the Talkeetna Mountain base near the banks of the Little Susitna Rivers.

According to Yahoo Lifestyle, the hut can accommodate up to eight people, which is usually the same number of people that vacation rentals also accommodate. However, there's a really small problem: There's no bathroom.

Also, you might hear some creepy sounds during the night, especially when the winds are blowing hard. In fact, most people gave it a nickname, which is "Darth Vader." But it doesn't matter because it's all worth it since you won't really pay anything for it. Plus, the views are just breathtaking like giving you a glimpse of paradise.
