'Apple iMac 2017’ Likely To Be Released In 2018 Due To Delays With Intel Cannon Lake

It looks like fans will have to wait until 2018 before they can get their hands on the "iMac 2017" and "MacBook Pro 2017" because of the delay of an important hardware. Intel's new Cannon Lake processor will likely be delayed in launching.

According to a report from The Science Times, the president of PC, Internet of Things, and chip design for Intel, Venkata Renduchintala, said that it's hard for them to pinpoint exactly the shipment timeline of the new processor. He said it's hard to tell whether the first shipment will arrive late this year or early next year.

Renduchintala, though, is confident that the chips will be delivered to manufacturers within the right timeline. He adds that the delivery of the processors won't likely have major effects on the developers' own timeline.

The report said that the Cannon Lake will be Intel's first generation chips that will be produced using a 10-nanometer process. But Droid Report said that Apple is targeting this processor chip because of its ability to support large amounts of RAM.

It is said that the Cannon Lake can allow devices to support up to 32GB or RAM, which will make Apple's devices like the MacBook Pro 2017, even more powerful. The Science Times report that the latest development with the Intel Cannon Lake will likely affect the "iMac 2017" and "MacBook Pro 2017," as both devices are expected to be powered by these new processor chips.

Although there were rumors that Apple might also use AMD's latest Ryzen processor, but there's no confirmation about it yet. Manufacturers usually would require some time to test out a processor on their devices before they can officially reveal and introduce it to the public.
