Jan 16, 2013 10:48 AM EST

A woman who went missing in the Grand Canyon is feared dead after she vanished on Friday.

Kaitlin Anne Kenney, 21, was on a Grand Canyon rafting trip along the Colorado River when she disappeared. She was last seen at a camp near the river banks on Friday and was reported missing on Saturday. A relative believes Kenney, of Englewood, Colorado may have fallen into the river or gotten lost when she went to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, the Daily Mail reports.

Helicopters and ground crews spent the weekend searching various areas around the river throughout the weekend, but no traces of the girl were found. Authorities have now scaled back their search.

Kenney's mother Linnea fears that her daughter is dead. She took to Facebook to mourn the suspected death of her child.

"Please say a prayer for our family. Our sweet Kaitlin is with the angels. She was our balloon let loose in a room and lived life to it's fullest, always with a smile. We were blessed to have her in our lives.'" Linnea wrote on Facebook.

Kenney is 5-feet-5 inches tall, 125 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a tan coat and pants, a grey shirt, a black hat, a multi-colored scarf and hiking boots.

Authorities will continue their search on a limited scale and they'll continue looking for clues about her disappearance and whereabouts.

Kenney was a talented musician and loved to explore and be adventurous.

"She shared her spark of life and her beauty and her kindness and free spirit with everybody," Linnea said, according to the Daily Mail. "She never did anything that was ordinary and she was always out there and willing to explore."
