Nintendo Switch Might Get 'Final Fantasy XIV,' But This Could Make Fans Skeptical

Feb 22, 2017 02:43 AM EST

The Nintendo Switch is just a few more days away from finally being available for purchase and while the launch titles aren't something to really lose minds for, more and more interesting titles start to pop up and this includes Square-Enix's "Final Fantasy XIV."

According to a recent report from The Sixth Axis, "Final Fantasy XIV" might be one of the high-profile titles that fans may want to look forward to. This could possibly the next best thing to "Final Fantasy XV" as it was mentioned by Hajime Tabata, the head of the development of the latest game, that they still have no plans on releasing the latest entry for the Switch.

This could particularly follow the recent discussion regarding "Final Fantasy XIV" getting ported to the Xbox One just a month ago. The Nintendo Switch could easily be considered as one of the best platforms to play the game, especially with its portability.

Based on IGN's report, Naoki Yoshida, one of the game's producers, said that it is highly possible to bring "Final Fantasy XIV" to the Nintendo Switch as it was the team's original plan to bring the game to as many platforms possible. However, one problem that everybody is currently looking at right now is the cross-platform issue. Another question would be on how the Nintendo Switch will implement the online services, particularly for "Final Fantasy XIV."

The Nintendo Switch isn't getting a lot of games on its launch in Mar. 2, 2017, but titles like "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" would warrant long-time fans to get the console as soon as possible. "Final Fantasy XIV" was originally launched back in 2013, but it was re-released with better elements that fixed most of what made its initial outing a disaster. The game is currently available for the PC and PlayStation 4 right now and a new expansion called "Stormblood" is also scheduled to be released in June.
