'Mass Effect Andromeda' News: Bioware Won't Tie Campaign Story To Multiplayer For EA Game

Dec 06, 2016 10:25 AM EST

The multiplayer of Mass Effect Andromeda, which is developed by Bioware and published by Electronic Arts, will be getting significant changes. The multiplayer of the Mass Effect sequel will have some major adjustments in comparison to its predecessor, Mass Effect 3.

Bioware has provided new information on how the game's multiplayer works and how it will be connected to the single-player story. According to gaming website GameSpot, the game's cooperative multiplayer will be present but some features have been altered compared to the previous game in the franchise, Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect Andromeda's multiplayer will be designed to entice players to return to the game often. It will be smoother and more aggressive and it will include jetpacks and power cooldowns. Although the single-player campaign will still be tied to multiplayer, the relationship will be different. Multiplayer will tie into the single-player campaign but Bioware will not force a player to participate in multiplayer if they choose not to.

Bioware did not provide details on exactly how the two modes are tied together. It only shared that they are related. Gaming website VG247 reports that the developer mentioned that mission funds earned in multiplayer will have its impact felt throughout the rest of the game. There will be an option to complete in multiplayer mode some side missions of the single-player campaign.

According to gaming website PC Gamer, the multiplayer of EA's Mass Effect Andromeda will be different from Dragon Age: Inquisition's multiplayer which has no connection or impact whatsoever on the single-player campaign. It will also be different from the galactic readiness concept of Mass Effect 3 that pushed the multiplayer mode onto players.

Players will not need to venture out of the single-player campaign if they choose not to. Bioware's Ian Frazier said that although unnecessary to the story, multiplayer can still have an impact on the single player campaign of Mass Effect Andromeda, which is published by Electronic Arts.
