LeBron James Admires Stephen Curry’s 13 3-Pointers; Believes Kevin Durant Or Klay Thompson Could Break Record

Nov 17, 2016 10:25 PM EST

Like everyone else in the basketball world, LeBron James watched in amazement Monday night as Stephen Curry set a new NBA record for 13 three-pointers in a single game. He adds that Curry could break his own mark. Aside from him, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant are equally good players who can someday rewrite the record books. "He'd probably be the one to break it, or one of those guys, KD (Kevin Durant) or Klay (Thompson) could break that," James said, referring to Curry's Warriors teammates.

In the game against New Orleans Pelicans, Curry finished with 46 points, and shot 13 out of 17 from behind the arc in the Golden State Warriors' 116-106 win. It's all the more impressive because Curry was 0 out of 10 from the Warriors' previous game. When asked Tuesday after the Cavaliers' morning shootaround in preparation for their evening game against the Hawks which individual records he deemed unattainable or left him in awe, he answered Scott Skiles' 30 assists for the Orlando Magic in a game on December 30, 1990 - James' sixth birthday, Cleveland reported.

Slam Online adds that James also mention Kobe Bryant's 81 point outburst against Toronto on January 22, 2006. It's considered the single highest-scoring game of James' lifetime and second highest in NBA history. Meanwhile, James' teammates and coach believes that he could average a triple-double for an entire season, which has only been don once by Oscar Robertson in 1962. James entered in their game against the Hawks averaging 22.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 10.7 assists per game. In fact, he is second in the league in assists.

James is also 30-points behind of becoming the youngest (31) ever to reach 27,000 career points. He added that he doesn't set any goals for breaking records. "As long as the ball is moving and guys are recipients of really good looks," James approves of the 3s, he said. "For the most part, Kyrie (Irving) and J.R. (Smith), they're the only guys on the team that's allowed to take contested 3-pointers. Everyone else gets theirs off of drive and kick or ball movement, things of that nature. So we're fine with that."
