British Airways Drops Complimentary Meals On Short-Haul Flights

British Airways is no longer serving complimentary food menu on short-haul flights, instead the airline will sell Marks & Spencer meals.

According to The Guardian report, if economy class passengers want to have mid-air meals, they will soon have to buy the snacks supplied by Marks & Spencer.

Meanwhile, business class passengers will retain complimentary food service.

British Airways has signed a deal with Marks & Spencer to offer a selection of its products, reported by Express.co.uk.

"We know our customers expect a great experience with British Airways.They've told us we are experts in flying and service, but when it comes to catering on short-haul flights, they want to choose from a wider range of premium products," said BA chief, Alex Cruz to Mirror.co.uk. 

"Like British Airways, Marks and Spencer is a well-known, premium British brand that is respected and trusted, so it's an ideal partnership, providing our customers with a choice of products they recognise and value," he added.

Express.co.uk listed the example of food that British Airways and Marks & Spencer will be offering economy class passengers.

Breakfast

Greek Style natural yoghurt with summer berry compote and granola (£1.95)

Classic fruit salad with pineapple, melon, mango, apple, kiwi and blueberries (£3.10)

The 20 products from Marks & Spencer's Food on the Move selection will start from January 11, 2017 for fliers from Heathrow and Gatwick while those departing from London City and Stansted airports will still get a free snack until summer 2017.

BA will no longer serve free food and beverage on flights to and from the British Isles, Europe as well as North Africa, Express.co.uk added.
