Carnival Victory Cruise Ship Rescues Two Men at Sea [VIDEO]

A cruise ship rescue was caught on video. Passengers on the Carnival Cruise Lines ship, the Carnival Victory got video of two men being rescued from the ocean near South Florida.

First Coast News reports that Scott Sennes was a passenger on the Carnival Victory when two men on a foam raft were rescued from the ocean. The crew of the Victory put a smaller boat into the water and rescued the two men as cruise passengers watched on a cheered. The two victims were brought on to the ship that had left from Miami. It is not clear if the men were injured or how long they had been drifting at sea.

According to Coast Guard Petty Officer Sabrina Laberdesque, the floating raft was south of Key West. The crew of the Carnival Victory notified the Coast Guard about the men who were in distress.

The incident is being investigated as the men may have been migrants from Cuba, but the Coast Guard could not confirm that to First Coast News. Carnival gave more information, confirming that the men were from Cuba.

The Carnival Victory, which carries 2,754 passengers, released a statement about the incident on Monday, saying "Last evening, while Carnival Victory was en route from Cozumel to its homeport of Miami, shipboard personnel observed a small craft in distress. Carnival Victory deviated course to render assistance to the small craft. Two Cuban nationals were brought on board, evaluated by the ship's medical staff and provided with food and water."

It is standard procedure to notify the Coast Guard when such rescues occur. After they were rescued by the ship, the men were transferred to a Coast Guard boat off the coast of Key West. The Carnival Victory continued on to Miami and arrived on schedule.

The Carnival Victory was on a four-day cruise that had left from Miami. The ship often makes four and five day trips from the Florida port. After the ship returned, it took off for a five-day cruise.
