Microsoft will be having an event in New York on May 2, but fans expecting the unveiling of the "Surface Pro 5" will be disappointed as it will not be part of the festivities. The company won't likely have a big event when it finally reveals the 2-in-1 hybrid device.

According to a report from LearnBonds, the invitation Microsoft sent only had the #MicrosoftEDU educational hashtag. But it will likely be a special event, where the company will reveal new software and hardware.

People can't help but speculate about what will happen in the event on May 2 especially that many are anticipating that Microsoft will reveal its new Surface device lineups, like the "Surface Phone," "Surface Pro 5," and "Surface Book 2." Unfortunately for them, Microsoft won't be able to reveal any of these speculated products during the event.

iDigitalTimes reports that the likely reason for the "Surface Pro 5" to skip the May 2 event is because Microsoft is not planning any big spectacle when they finally come out with the new 2-in-1 hybrid device. This is because the company doesn't really have any major changes for the successor to the "Surface Pro 4."

The report said that the Microsoft "Surface Pro 5" will likely sport the same specs that its predecessor has. The only difference the new 2-in-1 hybrid device will have is the addition of the Intel Kaby Lake processor, which is a more efficient CPU but doesn't really provide much of a difference.

If this is true, it seems a lot of the rumored specs about the "Surface Pro 5" won't be adopted by Microsoft. Whether it turns out as a good thing or a bad thing will remain to be seen.

For now, fans will just have to continue to wait on when the Microsoft "Surface Pro 5" will finally be revealed. Check out more news and rumors about the company's new 2-in-1 hybrid in the video below.
