Although there is still no official release date set for "The Seven Deadly Sins" Season 3, the anime is speculated to return on Netflix by the first month of 2018. This belief is based on how Netfix has handled the release of subsequent original series, revealing that there are approximately eleven month gaps between seasons of Netflix original shows.

They have released "Seven Deadly Sins" Season 2 in 2017 and have announced plans for multiple manga releases of "Nanatsu no Taizai." However, the manga is delayed because the author Nakaba Suzuki was clouded by health issues. Crunchyroll reported that the medical condition of Suzuki is nothing serious and that he should be able to resume work on the manga soon. This fact that Suzuki has not been able to Story Saga 2 of "Nanatsu no Taizai" could also be the reason for the delay of "The Seven Deadly Sins" Season 3.

Suzuki has not given any major hints regarding the third Saga but has previously admitted that he has already outlined the story and even plans to create a sequel to the main three-part story. This means that "The Seven Deadly Sins" could be getting a Season 4, 5 or even 6.

In August 2016, an anime special containing four episodes titled "The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War" was released. It was written by Suzuki and ended up being known as "The Seven Deadly Sins" Season 2 on Netflix.
