Fans of author Jay Asher should mark their calendars on March 31 as Netflix has set this date as the premiere of the series "13 Reasons Why." Selena Gomez, who serves as executive producer for the series, posted a teaser on her Instagram page.

In 2011, it was actually reported that the actress would be starring in a film adaptation of the book. While that did not push through, in October 2015, it was reported that Netflix would pick up the rights and turn it into a miniseries with 13 episodes. And instead of playing the character of Hannah Baker, Selena became the executive producer instead.

Gomez could not help but share the teaser for the series on her Instagram, where she is known as the most followed person in the world, with her followers numbering to 108 million. Variety reports that Gomez captioned her post with "A peek at a passion project I've been working on with Netflix."

A peek at a passion project I've been working on with @Netflix. @13ReasonsWhy arrives 3/31.

The plot of the book and the miniseries centers on Clay Jensen, who mysteriously receives a package of 13 cassette tapes from his classmate Hannah Baker, who has committed suicide two weeks prior. Clay has been instructed to pass the tapes to 13 different people who are all, in one way or another, to blame for her depression which led her to kill herself.

Showbiz Junkies reports that the series stars Dylan Minnette, who has starred in movies such as "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" and "Goosebumps," as Clay Jensen and newcomer Katherine Langford as Hannah Baker. Director Tom McCarthy, known for his works on the movie "Spotlight", where he got a nomination for Best Director in the Academy Awards, will be directing the first two episodes of the series. The tv adaptation of the book was written by Brian Yorkey, who has won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his work "Next to Normal."
