The last episode of "The Flash" in December previewed a grim future for Iris. When Barry threw the Philosopher's Stone to the Speed Force to trap Savitar, he also got a glimpse of Savitar killing Iris five months into the future. Saving Iris will be Barry's driving force once the next episode of the show airs this January 24. Meanwhile, executive producer Aaron Helbing reveals more of what will happen throughout the rest of the season.

TV Line reports that Helbing explains that despite Savitar being trapped in the speed force, Barry's thrust into the future will leave him feeling uneasy. But it will also drive the team together. Everybody, from Cisco to Kid Flash will all play a huge part in ensuring Iris' safety. It will be like an "itch that he can't scratch" and it will probably last for the rest of the season.

There's also the question on the prophecies that Savitar gave, on whether Iris is the one that fell, or if she is the one that suffers a fate worse than death. But Helbing is quick to point out that in "The Flash" the future is quick to change and anything is possible as the season goes on.

As for the other members of the team, EW reports that Julian (Tom Felton) will actually fit in well with the team. He will be given a second chance despite his mistakes as the team knows that he was not fully in control of himself while he was Alchemy. He will serve as a helpful asset to the team.

Meanwhile, the rest of the season will also see the development of Kid Flash, Caitlin, and Cisco, who will be battling the villain Gypsy. Gypsy will prove to be a formidable for not just for Cisco, but the whole team as well. The midseason premiere of "The Flash" will be on January 24 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
