Once again, a major player in the video game industry has said good things about the Nintendo Switch. According to GameStop, Nintendo's console could be a "game-changer". GameStop says that the new console of the Pokemon Sun and Moon publisher, could expand audience gaming and possibly have motion controls.

GameStop seems to be optimistic about Nintendo's hybrid home/portable console. The game retailer seems to have praised the Nintendo Switch even though Nintendo's last console, the Wii U, was less than a success.

According to gaming website Shacknews, while speaking during GameStop's investor relations call, Paul Raines, the CEO of GameStop, reported to investors that he had played Nintendo's console a few weeks prior and was left with a good strong impression of the Nintendo Switch. He revealed that he thinks Nintendo could have a game console that could beat others when the Zelda: Breath of the Wind publisher's console is launched in March.

Gaming website GameSpot reported that a significant number of rewards-card members, who were aware of the Nintendo Switch were interested in purchasing the system. 27 percent of GameStop's PowerUp Rewards members who knew about the next-gen console from the publisher of Mario Kart, when questioned said that they would buy the Nintendo Switch at launch.

The figure was stated in the discussion of the consumer purchase intent during the earnings briefing. Consumer purchase intent is a survey that indicates the percentage of people who knew about the console and also planned to buy a unit when it releases in March 2017.

The survey is an early pre-launch metric that is currently measuring at 27 percent, a figure which is similar to the Xbox One at a similar point in time, months before its release. According to GameStop, the percentage could trend upwards after Nintendo's January news event where the Nintendo Switch's launch price, hardware specifications, and launch line-up are revealed.

According to gaming website IGN, in the earnings briefing, Raines also seemed to reveal a piece of information that industry analysts have been wondering about. The GameStop CEO appeared to be saying that the Nintendo Switch will have some kind of motion controls.

Raines was the latest among industry executives who had good words to say about the Nintendo Switch. Previously, Todd Howard, the director of Skyrim, said, after playing the demo of the Nintendo Switch, that it was the best he had ever seen. Right after the Nintendo Switch was announced, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that the Nintendo Switch had the potential to make a difference in the gaming industry.
